Email Marketing

For as long as there has been the internet there has been email; the staple of online communication that is just as powerful as it has ever been. From the moment the world was introduced to email; it has become central to online communication and is today, still as ever, central to our functioning.
Almost every site we visit or join up to requires us to have an email address, we use it to communicate with family and the email is just as crucial to the working environment…it really is the staple of the internet.
As a result of the increasing popularity of the internet and mobile technology; it is safe to say that today online marketing is key to business success and alongside SEO, PPC and social media campaigns comes email marketing which, if done right can work absolute wonders.
Save yourself from heading straight to the trash folder and use email marketing the right way to help your business hit the success button; here are our top tips to show you just how to do it.
- Subject Heading- A lot of businesses seem to forget that this is the information that this is the first piece of information that your audience will see and is the deciding factor on whether or not the will open the email or pop it straight in the bin. Don't try to be clever and create something cryptic or fake but instead keep it simple and catchy and you will soon find more people willing to dive straight in.
- Content Amount- It is easy to rant and rave but try to think of your audience as you would kids; they will get bored easily and switch off if you don't capture their attention fast enough. Stick to one or two paragraphs at the most and be sure to include only relevant information or you risk an immediate turn off.
- Personalise- Nothing is more off putting then a generic email that your audience knows will have gone to a few thousand other people too. Your audience likes to be made to feel special so attempt to personalise our emails where possible and you won't find yourself heading straight for the bin.
- End it on a high- You would be surprised how many businesses think it is appropriate to end their emails with a shameless sales pitch or in some cases a massive and anything but subtle sales push but believe it or not your audience is not that gullible. Don't be so obvious and don't try to con your audience into a sale, talk to them and encourage them but if they feel pressured then you might as well just walk away now.
The email is still as powerful as ever and when done right it can work wonders for your business too. Don't get too worked up in the new and exciting marketing offers because like they say; they old ones really are the best.
