SEO and Link Building

Within a matter of weeks, Google has lit a fire under SEO specialists by cracking down on optimisation techniques and as a result, generated a resounding level of fear amongst businesses across the world.

Search engine optimisation is an integral element in an online marketing strategy but unfortunately many, many, many marketing specialists have been undertaking unethical link building methods that get results but by going against the rules set out by Google. Using link building websites, companies have been paying for the creation of mass links that have no relevance yet manage to still boost rankings but Google has finally clocked on and is taking action.

The search engine has begun by shutting down many unethical link building websites and has sent emails to webmasters warning them that unnatural links have been detected. Rather than immediately handing out fines to those who have crossed its path it is taking a calmer approach by giving websites a chance to clean up their act. So if you're amongst those who have received a warning from Google then it is time to action…what are you waiting for?

If you have been 'caught out' by Google then you have two options. Number one, ignore what Google have said and carry on building your links as you are (although in our opinion you would be crazy to do so!) or option number two; remove the bad links and begin to completely rethink your SEO strategy.

It is safe to say that the latter option is your best chance of getting through the rough patch. Take the mass link building sites out of the equation and start to look at more natural link building methods to boost your ranking.

Naturally if your website has received a warning from Google then your SERP results will take an immediate hit, no doubt making it as tempting as ever to do anything and everything to get back the boost but how long will your website last, operating unethically? Until Google's next algorithm change?

The decision is of course yours but take our advice and do something active, jump on the blogging platform; content is of course king in the world of SEO so why not start producing some good quality pieces? Social media is set to have a phenomenal impact on SEO so focus more on this, build your profiles and engage more with your customers and slowly but surely your ranking will get a boost but in the right way.

This is a fast paced world which is why we all want the best results and we want them now but judging by the latest reaction; time has been called on unethical link building so do you really want to go against Google?

We didn't think so.
