Despite our constant pleas and just about everybody else's; people still struggle to believe that the internet is crucial to everyday life. Gone are the days in which the computers and the internet were great, added little extras; we now live in a time in which over 80 per cent of the British population have some form of daily  internet access.

The numbers speak for themselves however; it seems that unless we become a robotic nation, utterly reliant on the internet to even speak; certain businesses will fail to understand the importance of online marketing.

Online is growing daily and thanks to the surge in products including the iPad, the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, the Kindle and sites including; BBC iPlayer, Amazon and of course Facebook; we are very much an online nation obsessed with the internet and all it has to offer. In all honesty it would be easy for one to sit here and make a list of popular sites and products to prove our nation has a penchant for things electronical and online but the proof simply lies in the pudding.

Despite facing a global economic crisis; a recent report has indicated that the number of online shoppers have grown exponentially. Online retail giant Amazon has officially announced that it is set to create an estimated 2,000 jobs in order to keep up with the mass swarm of business it has received. The online site has seen a phenomenal surge in members and customers and must now build three new centres in order to keep up with the demand.

There is no doubt on the matter that the internet is very much growing in importance; as easy internet access and a growth in the mobile market make it easy to purchase, sign up and show interest in a business and product.

For all those still unsure of online marketing and still sitting undeterred; be weary that your competitors are capitalising on the millions of people the online sector has to offer…do you want to continue missing out?
