We have long since been advocates of social media and the phenomenal affect that a strong presence can have on internet marketing. It is crystal clear that for businesses to, today get themselves noticed they must establish a strong online footing which,  the ever popular and ever growing social media sites can play a phenomenal role in.

Not only for your SERP rankings but also for your brand image and growth; social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are essential in online marketing however, maintaining a continuingly successful online presence is not as easy as it looks. Businesses big and small can benefit, in a multitude of ways, from social media marketing but how can they ensure they stay fresh and exciting?

Whatever your business, if you have a Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn profile and have hit a wall; then don't fear as social staleness is not uncommon (although that term might be as I've just made it up on the spot!) It is not uncommon for businesses to go from getting a range of likes, fans and followers; to barley getting noticed however, redemption is always possible.

Here are our top tips to ensure that your social media profiles are as active as can be;

  • Don't overdo it- It is east to assume that the reason for your social staleness is that your fans, however many there may be, are failing to see the hordes of posts and messages that you put up but that might not be the case. Too much will not necessarily have the desired effect and may in fact bore your fans and although statistics show that followers rarely un-follow; they may soon stop paying attention. Why not stop with the hourly updates and instead opt for minimal, yet quality posts that are more likely to grab attention and entice engagement?
  • Don't think too big- Naturally a Facebook and Twitter profile can work wonders in online marketing but why not take a shot at the smaller and not so mainstream platforms including Google+ and Pinterest. Not only can a new scope assist with your SERP rankings but be very productive in your ultimate online growth.
  • Keep on top of it all- Are you paying attention to just what is working and what isn't? It is easy to dismiss social media as irrelevant but by devoting time to your social audience and analysing the data; you can determine just what is working and what isn't.
  • Try not to push- More than 500 fans and followers? Then no doubt you will be fighting an immense urge to bombard your audience with calls to action but constant displays of 'call now' 'contact us' and 'let us help' is rather off putting. Keep it subtle; try not to push sales but rather use your profiles to expand your brand image…a better image will only lead to a natural growth.

Your social media profiles are a great way to keep your brand active on the web but do not be afraid if you hit a little snag; it happens to the best of us! Follow our tips to ensure you grow your brand image the right way.
