The Evolution of and Facebook

Ever wondered just how we have all advanced? Ok, so you're probably thinking about the theory of monkey to man but I was referring to a little after that. Try and think about what life was like in the mid to late 90's; it seems like a different lifetime in which we communicated by letters and phone and occasionally showed how cool we were by sending an email. The pre social media days were a simpler time where the world was going at its own steady pace; making time for one another whenever they could but now fast forward to a time where over 50 per cent of the world's population logs on to social media profiles daily and it is safe to say that we are far too fast and far too preoccupied with connecting…when was the last time anyone sat back and really talked about how there day was going?
Social media has changed the world and driven it into a state of communication obsession from which there is no return. Thanks to smart phones and iPads an increasing number of us are always and we mean always messaging and Tweeting our online community and try as we might; how many of us can really admit that without Facebook and Twitter, life is anything but a drag?
Let's face it; in a world where social media gives us the chance to snoop on family and friends, legally stalk celebrities and enables businesses to grow their online marketing strategies to new heights the world hasn't so much as evolved but rather moulded itself around social media to the point that they are unable to differentiate what it means to have 'a quick look' and stay online all day. It's a big distraction; we check on our profiles at every chance we get and even allow it to interfere with our work but it seems that going cold Turkey is just too difficult for the best of us.
Don't get us wrong, we adore social media and the new found connection that the world now shares but we can't help but feel uneasy at once being a race that adapted for the better; that grew skills in order to survive and built machines and tools to aid us. Instead we are now a race that has let machines and technology dictate our lives and mould the growth of our society, for those online marketing firms and tech freaks there is no need to fear; we are all in too deep…things will never go back to the way they were.
