In Today's socially active world; an online presence has never been more crucial to the success of a business. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube are the most visited sites in the UK and across the world and central to today's communication which is why anyone in online marketing will always tell you that if you want to reach your audience, grow your brand and compete against others in your industry then a social media presence will give you a fighting chance.
Sites including Facebook and Twitter are visited at least once a day by a huge proportion of the population and is where members turn to for advice, recommendations and to air their disdain which, is why by establishing a solid presence businesses can answer any questions and push their brand, product and services directly to the public; in return getting those all-important sales.
The good news is that many businesses across the board are now beginning to understand the importance of social media marketing via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube however; there is still a deepening fear that a social media profile may be more hassle then it is worth.
As online marketing experts we cannot emphasise enough the importance of online reputation management; it takes a lifetime to build a reputation and only a moment to damage it. With such an open platform, fans of such sites are easily able to bombard walls with spam and negative comments which aren't exactly ideal when a business is trying to grow sales however by staying on the ball you do not need to give in to fear.
Managing all social media profiles vigilantly will ensure that should a negative or damaging comment appear you can immediately take action and resolve the issue before news spreads. On sites such as Facebook and Twitter a simple click of a button can delete a comment however on YouTube; with videos open to billions; managing comments can be immensely difficult however that is all set to change.
The geniuses behind YouTube have announced that it will take increasing control of its comments system to minimise online trolls and viciousness that has made the site a minefield for businesses. Although an official announcement has yet to be made; rumours are circulating that the site is set to take action over anonymous comments and abuse that can make it one of the most unsettling places to be.
The notorious comments have made an increasing number of businesses less inclined to incorporate YouTube into its social media strategy despite the effect it can play on rankings however as changes role out within the next few months it may no longer be the scariest place to be.
Social media can work wonders for your businesses and as long as you stay on the ball; your brand can grow to new heights without a problem.
